Street Department

Borough of Rosslyn Farms Street DepartmentThe Borough of Rosslyn Farms Street Department consists of two full-time employees. They are responsible for the maintenance of all Borough infrastructure, including storm and sanitary sewers, roads, buildings, and parks. All snow removal is also managed by the Street Department. Currently, the department is heavily involved in the repair of the sanitary sewer system as part of the federal consent decree.

In addition to maintaining all the public facilities, the Street Department provides a weekly "pick up" service to yard waste. Residents are asked to follow the following rules for pick up:

Pick up is every Monday morning. Items accepted for pick up are leaves, sticks/branches 3 inches or less in diameter, and garden trimmings. Items NOT accepted are grass clippings, garbage, rocks, dirt, and materials left over from home improvement projects. Contractors must remove all debris they create.

Leaves and other materials should be placed in piles near the street. Sticks/branches MUST be separated from other debris so they are easily fed into the chipper. Sticks and branches 3 inches or less in diameter should be left as long as possible and placed in piles. To read more about the disposal of yard clippings click here.

Fall leaf pickup has no set schedule. The leaves should be raked into long rows close to the street to enable the leaf vacuum to easily reach them.

The Borough recycles all yard waste. Compost, leaf mulch and wood chips are available for residents.
